    DEAD: 20-year-old Gregory Anthony Zakers
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE lifeless male body discovered yesterday [Saturday] by a disconcerted tourist at Black Rocks in Belle Vue was confirmed as 20-year-old Gregory Anthony Zakers of Basseterre.

Information released by the police states that they are investigating the death of Zakers whose half-dressed body was found at Black Rocks about 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008.

The release said the District Medical Officer visited the scene and pronounced him dead.

It also informed that foul play is suspected following the discovery of several marks of violence on the body, and an autopsy would be performed to determine the exact cause of death. However, SKNVibes learned that Zakers’ body bore gunshot wounds to the head and back.

This media house understands that Zakers left his home on Thursday, April 10 to visit a female friend in St. Pauls and was reported missing at the St. Pauls Police Station on the following day after he failed to return home and also not seen by the person he intended to visit.

The police are therefore requesting anyone with information that could assist in their investigation to call the St. Pauls Police Station at 465-6281 or the crime hotline at 707. “Information received will be kept in strict confidence,” the release noted.  ~~Adz:Right~~

Zakers, together with Jamal Bradshaw and Fitzroy Challenger, was charged with the September 8, 2006 stabbing death of 16-yaer-old Josh Smithen in St. Pauls at the opening ceremony of Festival De Capisterre.

On Tuesday, February 18, 2008, following a five-day long trial, a seven-man/five-woman jury unanimously found Zakers not guilty of the offence, but the jury was undecided in the case of his co-accused, Bradshaw and Challenger, and they are scheduled to reappear in court during the next criminal assizes.
