2008 IUON transfer class and faculty
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts-STUDENTS of the International University of Nursing (IUON) in St. Kitts who will be transferring to U.S. institutions to complete advanced clinical aspects of their education were honored on Saturday April 12th for their academic achievements.

Fourteen students attended the ceremonial celebration held at the institute’s facility in Camps, St. Kitts and were honored by the faculty as they continue on toward the completion of either their Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing or Associate’s Degree in Nursing at one of five U.S. affiliated universities.

The overall message of the event was that the IUON was only a beginning for
Jennifer Goodeliunas, President of the IUON Student Government Association
the transferring students and many things, both uplifting and challenging, lie on the road ahead for them. This point was highlighted by Dr. Agnes Beachman’s presentation on various high points, difficulties and important figures in the history of the nursing profession.

Dr. Catherine Garner, Provost-Dean of IUON, echoed Beachman’s sentiments in her address to the students when she said, “It’s been a rollercoaster this year, but you just have to roll with it, learn from it, and keep going. I think something really magic is in store for all of you.”

~~Adz:Left~~ Speaking on behalf of the students was Jennifer Goodeliunas, President of the Student Government Association, who said that her time at the IUON taught her the wisdom that “if you are going to be a nurse, you have to learn to be adaptable and flexible.”

Goodeliunas also received a special award at the ceremony for her exemplary contribution to several health and wellbeing programs for the women and children of St. Kitts & Nevis.

The ceremony was closed by a poignant rendition of the song “Footprints in the Sand” by Joslyn Browne, a current IUON student.
