BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Palms Cafe deli, which was housed in the Amory Building at the Palms Arcade, the Circus, Basseterre, no longer exists.
That space, ideally located in the heart of Basseterre, which provided shoppers with a convenient drop-n thirst quencher and snack, will soon become an extension of The Polo Company Too.
Based on the perception of many that the deli would be relocated, SKNVibes contacted Ernest Amory of Amory Enterprises to find out the motive behind the closure of the Cafe.
Amory explained that for some time management of The Polo Company Too has been asking for an extension of their business and the decision was made to satisfy their desire by renting to them the space which the Cafe occupied.
He further explained that there is no intention to reopen the deli in another location noting that “as you go on in life, you take on fewer responsibilities.”
He then explained that the Amory Enterprises would now be concentrating mainly on building rentals.
When asked about the individuals that were employed at the deli, Amory said that they have been relocated to other areas of Amory Enterprises.
On Monday (Nov. 21), customers who patronized the deli on a daily basis were greeted with a sign on the Princes Street entrance stating “The Palms Cafe will be closed to the general public effective Monday 21st November 2011 due to the expansion of Polo Company Too. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. All products are available at the American Bakery, Victoria Road.”
The Palms Cafe deli is a branch of Amory Enterprises, and has been in operation for over six years.
