RE: PAM INTERNATIONAL Townhall Meeting in New York, USA

Mr. Lindsay Grant Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM)
At the Sugar City Bakery, yesterday Sunday April 13, 2008, Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM), Mr. Lindsay Grant, discussed the pressing challenges confronting the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis at a Townhall Meeting held in Bronx, New York.

Under the theme, “Embrace the Change” Political Leader Mr. Lindsay Grant and Deputy Political Leader Mr. Eugene Hamilton, presented the People’s Action Movement’s plan to restore economic prosperity in St. Kitts and Nevis.  With over 200 nationals in attendance, the open discussion format of the Townhall Meeting made for the full participation and synergies of all the Federation’s citizens living abroad.

Mr. Grant delivered a message of hope and change. The large number of young persons in attendance posed questions to the Political Leader of the need for a new PAM government to deal with the vast number of youths needing jobs when they return from educational studies abroad.

Mr. Grant outlined four (4) issues of concern to restore the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis to economic prosperity.

I.) Mr. Grant cautioned that the Labour Government’s Land Distribution swap-land-for-debt policy, affects patrimony in the Federation and therefore is not endorsed by the People’s Action Movement.

II.) Cost of Living – Mr. Grant assured that serious attempts will be made under a new PAM government to the concern of rising prices and went onto discuss its critical link to both poverty and ongoing crime in the Federation.  ~~Adz:Right~~

III) Investment and Employment – Mr. Grant announced that the People’s Action Movement has engaged talks with two (2) potential investors to commit 200-250 USD million investment in areas of Education and Informatics and Services, which would bring 600-800 jobs in the short-term to the Federation, along with other opportunities to the people of St Kitts and Nevis.

In conclusion, Mr. Grant and Deputy Political Leader Hamilton continued to address the urgent need for Electoral Reform in the Federation. Nationals were given update on the challenges and concerns in the present state of the electoral reform process, and Mr. Grant assured that the People’s Action Movement would continue to be in the vanguard to ensure free and fair elections in the upcoming General Election.

With the overwhelming success of this Townhall Meeting and support of the over 200 nationals in attendance, Mr. Grant restated the PAM vision to restore economic prosperity in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as The Call to Change is A Call to Courage, “Embrace the Change”.
