BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – GLENVILLE ISLES of Upper Market Street was convicted yesterday (Nov. 23) for attempted murder of a woman whom he shot in her face on December 27, 2010 in Lower Monkey Hill.
He was found guilty by a 12-member jury unanimously, of shooting Fleurette Williams in her jaw and will be sentenced on December 8.
The trial was prosecuted by Crown Counsel, Garth Wilkin who called a total of six witnesses to support their case.
According to the evidence presented in court the incident occurred in the wee hours of the morning at Williams’ home while she was asleep.
According to a previous news article on this website, 41-year-old Isles, shot his former girlfriend in the face who was transported to the JNF Hospital, where she was treated for her injury.
The unrepresented man told the court that he was innocent and was not at the scene of the crime and called three witnesses to support his case.
Meanwhile in other court-related news, Denzil Huggins who was charged with ‘detaining of postal letters’ on April 1, 2006 had his trial end in a hung jury.
Huggins, who was represented by Barrister-at-Law Jason Hamilton, will have his case traversed to the January assizes.
His charge read that he “neglected or refused to deliver the letters to said persons”.
