~~Adz:Right~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A male resident of St. Pauls was on Monday ordered by a City Magistrate to pay EC$1 800 as punishment for stealing a tube of toothpaste and a jar of styling gel, among other items, from a popular Supermarket in Basseterre.

James Dorset appeared before the District “A” Magistrate on Monday, April 14, 2008 on a charge of “larceny” which, according to police, was committed on May 20, 2007.

A release from the Police’s Public Relations Office informed that after responding to a report from C&C Supermarket on the Bay Front, Basseterre, they met Dorset with “ a bottle of Liquid Tide, one bottle of Liquid Ace, one Colgate Gel and one Pro-Line Styling Gel, all stolen from the Supermarket”.

He was taken into police custody, arrested and charged with “larceny”.

Dorset was told by the presiding Magistrate that he has three months in which to pay the sum, and failing to comply would result in him serving a three-month custodial sentence.

Also, Trelston Casey of Upper Shear Lane appeared in the said court on one count each of “larceny”, “harassment” and “trespassing”. He was convicted, placed on a bond of good behavior and to keep the peace for a six-month period. Casey was also ordered stay no less than 150 feet from the virtual complainant and to have no contact whatsoever with them.

Should the bond be broken, Casey would be required to pay $2 000 or serve one month at Her Majesty’s Prison.

A police press release informs that he was also convicted but cautioned for trespassing and harassment.
“On 14th October 2007 police responded to a report in Fry’s Village and conducted investigations. As a result Trelston was arrested and charged for entering the property of Tyren Hendrickson and stealing one light bulb,” police informed.

In other news, a 13-year-old from the Tabernacle area would have his day in court, having been arrested and charged with one count of “indecent assault”; an offence which police claim was committed on January 20, 2008.

Darren Webster of Verchilds was, on Monday, arrested and charged with an April 14, 2008 offence of “larceny”, while on Nevis, Jahvon Mills of Craddock Road was also arrested and charged with “larceny”, believed to have been committed on March 9, 2008.
