BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – PERHAPS some justice will be served when the 2009 murder of Dexter ‘Asbal’ Marsham is finally tried at the Basseterre High Court, today, Nov. 29.
Marsham, 24 of Godwin Ghaut, was said to have suffered six to eight fatal gunshot wounds to the head, chest and stomach.
The murder allegedly occurred on July 18, 2009 following a brief altercation where a number of unknown and unmasked assailants opened fire on Marsham in Godwin Ghut.
Alpha ‘Raga’ Duporte and Curtlee Rogers were jointly charged with the crime.
According to past reports by this media house, the incident was said to have rocked the community of Godwin’s Ghaut when the mid-afternoon shooting took the life of one young man and injured another.
Around 3:00 p.m. SKNVibes arrived on the scene to see crowds of villagers lining the Island Main Road as they observed the lifeless body of Marsham.
Reports also stated that at about 3:50 p.m., District Medical Officer Dr. Norgen Wilson pronounced Marsham dead as Emergency Medical Services personnel tried to console the emotional family members who arrived at the scene after being informed of the tragic news.
Marsham’s death was the Federation’s 15th homicide for 2009, all of which occurred on St. Kitts.
His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas will be presiding over the matter.
