NPT shows gratitude to 50th anniversary contributors

    ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, November 29th, 2011 – The National Parks Trust (NPT) of the Virgin Islands held a ceremony last week to recognise the contribution and generosity of its major sponsors for its 50th anniversary celebrations.

     

    Chairman of the NPT, Mrs. Ingrid Moses-Scatliffe said, “The celebration of the National Parks Trust’s 50th Anniversary is made possible through the very generous outpouring of support from our major sponsors, Government departments, civic organisations, contractors and individuals.”

     

    “The Trust expresses its sincere and heartfelt gratitude to our major sponsors and contributors who have made this milestone a reality,” Mrs. Moses-Scatliffe expressed. Sponsors speaking at the ceremony expressed their delight to be a part of the NPT’s celebration.

     

    Managing Director of NAGICO Insurance Company Ltd, Mr. Shan Mohamed said, “Our sponsorship and donation initiatives, support regional and local programmes that fit within four focus areas one of which includes environmental protection.”

     

    “NAGICO Insurances stands ready to support this entire initiative, as we are doing this year, and we will continue to welcome the opportunity to be associated with this venture and I firmly believe that we will be seeing these efforts bear fruit in the near future”, Mr. Mohamed expressed.”

     

    Mr. Steve Augustine of SA Architect extended well wishes to NPT on behalf of management and staff, “We wish you well in your endeavour to raise funds for the development of the much needed Queen Elizabeth II Park.”

     

    “We hope and trust that your pursuit will continue to grow and remain national treasures of the Virgin Islands”, Mr. Augustine added.

     

    Presenting sponsors included BVI Tourist Board, Nagico Insurance, CCT Global Communications, Caribbean Cellars Ltd, BVI International Finance Centre and Tropical Shipping. Platinum sponsors BDO, BVI International Finance Centre, Equity Trust, Farara Kerins, Guana Island and Oil Nut Bay.

     

    Contributors were Governor's Office, BVI Electricity Corporation, Department of Culture, Department of Disaster Management, Department of Immigration, Environmental Health Division, HM Department of Customs, Department of Information and Public Relations, H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, and BVI Red Cross.

     

    Other contributors included the Rotary Club of Road Town, The Rotary Club of Tortola, The Sunshine Rotary Club of Tortola, Al's Marine, Caribbean Basin Enterprise (CBE), D & B Trucking, Farara Business Solutions, James Todman Construction Ltd, Kraus-Manning Limited, Larry Adams Construction, Rosewood Little Dix Bay, M-B’s ICE, Meridian Construction, Qwomar Trading Ltd., SOL, Steve Augustine Architecture and Treasure Isle Hotel.

     

    The National Parks Trust of the Virgin Islands held a week of festivities to commemorate their 50 Year Anniversary from November 20 to 27 which included their Annual Flower Show, Arbour Day Ceremony and a Jazz and Blues Concert Series.

     

    The Trust was established in 1961 by Government as the agency responsible for the Territory’s parks. The NPT is mandated under the National Parks Act of 2006 with preserving the Territory’s valuable natural resources while managing 21 national parks throughout the British Virgin Islands.
