Following the agreement reached on a Price Regulation Regime by Cable & Wireless and the OECS Ministers for Telecommunications, and the subsequent approval by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, Cable & Wireless is pleased to announce a package of rate reductions and free minutes for all its fixed line customers.
Effective January 1st, 2005, Cable & Wireless customers will pay up to 37% less for fixed-to-fixed line calls. They will also benefit from significant reductions in fixed to mobile rates and enjoy free minutes of fixed-to-fixed line calling on their home phone.
From New Years Day all local fixed-to-fixed line calls per minute rate will be reduced from 9 cents (peak period), 8 cents (off-peak period) and 6 cents (weekends) to 7 cents, 5 cents, and 5 cents respectively. Per minute rates for calling a mobile phone from a fixed-line phone will be reduced from 81 cents (peak period), 80 cents (evenings) and 78 cents (weekends) to 76 cents, 75 cents, and 75 cents respectively. These rate reductions apply to all Cable & Wireless fixed customers, whether business or residential.
In addition to lower rates, all residential fixed-line customers will receive 60 FREE minutes of local fixed-to-fixed calls each month, in the evenings and on weekends. This means that as many as 25 percent of existing users will have no payments to make for their evening and weekend locals calls from their home phone.

The initial announcement of the price cap was made in a joint statement issued by the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) and Cable & Wireless in July this year.
