~~Adz:Right~~BASSETERRE, ST. Kitts: The number of persons arrested in connection with the murder of Gregory Anthony Zakers seems to be inching up on a daily basis with the arrest of yet another young man this past Tuesday.

A police press release issued yesterday informed that a 23 year-old of the Buckley’s Estate area was arrested on Tuesday “on suspicion of murder”. This has now brought the total number of persons arrested in relation to the crime to a whopping four.

The three others, including one juvenile of St. Pauls, were arrested sometime between Sunday, April 13, and Tuesday, April 15, but to date none have been formally charged.  SKNVibes.com has not been able to ascertain whether the individuals will be charged for the murder or not but the men are said to be “assisting with the investigation”. Zakers’ body was discovered at Black Rocks, Belle Vue on the morning of Saturday April 12th by a tourist who reported the finding to a taxi driver who in turn reported it to the police.

Zakers’ half-dressed body, according to police, bore signs of foul play and according to unsubstantiated reports he had gunshot wounds to the head and back as well as some lacerations about his body.

Unofficial reports indicate that on Thursday last Zakers had left his home in Basseterre bound for St. Pauls to visit a female friend but had not returned.  SKNVibes.com understands that the police received a report on Friday, April 11, 2008 from relatives indicating that he was missing.  His body was discovered the following day. Police are “still investigating” the heinous crime.

An autopsy is expected to be performed on the body shortly to determine the exact cause of death.  Reports of such would be provided in a subsequent posting on this site.
