Press Release

BRADES, Montserrat, November 29th, 2011 – A short film looking at the lives of several families and the relationship choices they make will premiere on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2011.

The short film was written and directed by Director of Information for the Government of Montserrat Nerissa Golden and gives the stars their first opportunity on screen. It stars Noella Weekes, Sherylene Dyer, Billy Darroux, Nerissa Golden, Keenan Cassell and Anaya Diaz.

“Anaya is our youngest actor on the project and she was on Montserrat visiting her great grandmother over the summer when we were just about to start production,” Golden said. “It’s a small cast but we hope a powerful story that talks about how lives are intertwined and the impact our relationship choices have on our sexual health.”

The film was funded through an award from the Caribbean Broadcast Media Partnership on HIV/AIDS, which is now celebrating five years of work in bringing awareness to the region about the disease and the need to protect our health.

Choices, features the theme song of the same name which was produced Jarrell “Ringtone” Fenton for the local STI HIV/AIDS Awareness Committee.

The short film will be released online at www.zjb.gov.ms and on the Spirit of Montserrat Page on Facebook on Thursday, December 1, 2011 which is World AIDS Day. It will also be played over the weekend on the local cable Channel 5.

“I wish to thank all of the actors, the production crew, the manager of the Montserrat Cultural Centre, Tradewinds Montserrat, and the Government of Montserrat for allowing us to do this project.

We hope it will foster more discussions about why we need to protect our children, our own health and make healthier choices in the relationships we develop,” added Golden.
