BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LOCAL fishermen ‘Dingo’ and Bertrum were in for quite a surprise when a simple lime out to sea turned into a great catch.

Dingo, who hails from Newtown, told SKNVibes that he and his long time friend and partner Bertrum went out to sea at Fort Point near Fisherman’s Wharf for a little “lime” over the weekend and didn’t expect to catch two large King Fish.

“Yeah, we just went out to take a lime and our minds off of all the crime that is happening in this country recently, and we just threw out a line,” he said. “We had four strikes but we catch two.”

According to Dingo, the two King Fish weighted 27 and 13 pounds.

He said that they were very excited and pleased with their catch although it was not the first time they had caught a fish that large.

The first time he had a “great catch” was a few years ago when his line was strained with the weight of a 47-pound King Fish.

“It’s a real good feeling for a fisherman to catch a King Fish, because the King Fish are kings of the sea and they are really nice fish to eat,” he said. “They are all over restaurants.”

The fishermen sold both fish to the Fisheries Complex in Basseterre.
