Business Update – Bread gone up!

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DECEMBER is here! Christmas is just around the corner and stores are currently stocking up on all the Christmas and Carnival gear to get everyone set and ready for this season.

While most stores will be having discounts on selected or even on all of the items in their stores, bakeries may be raising the prices of their bread.

Yesterday (Dec 1.), bread consumers were made aware of the possible change in bread price.

Bakers had been having negotiations with the government of St. Kitts and Nevis on the need for increased bread pricing, due to increases in price of bread making ingredients.

After discussions, government decided to allow a 33 percent increase on the seven ounce loaf. This product is currently being sold at EC$1.50.

Presented below is the update on the businesses in St. Kitts for the week November 26 to December 2:

TDC - On Saturday (Dec. 3) TDC held a store-wide sale at the Home and Building Depot in both St. Kitts and Nevis where customers got a chance to pick their discount.

Customers dipped into a box and picked out a discount for which they got a mark down on their store purchases. Discounts ranged  from 10 to 40 percent.

Every Wednesday starting next week (Dec. 7) the City Drug Store (CDS) will be having “WOW” Wednesdays with a reduction of up to 20 percent off of everything in the store. Some restrictions apply.

CDS also has its ongoing free Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose testing where persons can come in to the store and request a test. Counselling is also done where necessary.

The CDS Copy Centre is having markdowns on wide format printing. Consumers will enjoy 15 percent price cut on handouts, posters, flyers, and banners, and much more.

The Business Equipment Division continues its “Furniture Fest” with huge discounts on selected office furniture – desks, chairs, work stations, safes, bookcases, and filing cabinets among others.

A computer package is also up for grabs. Patrons can trade in their old computer and get EC$500 off of their new desktop package. The package includes a Lenovo Desktop, DVD writer, Dual Core Processor, HD Graphics, 500gb Hardrive, 19” Acer Monitor, Klipx 2.1 speakers, task chair, webcam, computer desk, Canon MP 495 multi function printer.
