SKN Male Beach Volleyball Teams press on for Olympic Qualifiers

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, December 5th 2011 - The St Kitts & Nevis Male Beach Volley Ball Teams were able to qualify after competing in the NORCECA Men’s Caribbean Inter Zonal Beach Volleyball Continental Cup in a hard fought series held at Seven Miles Beach of Grand Cayman over the weekend December 1-4. Team St Kitts & Nevis after some hard fought matches finished 4th in the competition. This 4th place finish gave them one of the last qualifying berths for the 3rd round of Olympic Qualifiers which will be played in Costa Rica in February 2012.
     
    Male team for St Kitts & Nevis comprised of Kemoroy Percival, Steadroy Collins, Shawn Seabrookes and St. Clair Hodge. St Kitts and Nevis claimed a more than deserving fourth place finish against third place finishers Jamaica to book their spot in the 3rd round of the Olympic Qualifiers which will be played in Costa Rica.  During the playoffs team St Kitts were victorious over Team Barbados and Team St Lucia.
     
    In the best-of-three series for third place, Jamaica defeated St. Kitts and Nevis. Andre McLean and Donovan Richards came from behind to win 2-1 (19-21, 21-9, 15-7) against Carl Steadroy Collins and Kemoroy Percival while Wayne Scott and Mark Lewis beat Shawn Seabrookes and St. Clair Hodge 2-0 ( 21-18, 21-11).
    Team St Kitts & Nevis played a total of 26 combined sets over the 4 days which saw them victorious in 10 of the 26 sets to snatch a 4th place finish.
     
    Overall winners of the competition were Team Trinidad and Tobago who defeated Bahamas in 2 sets to 1 to claim a resounding victory.
