Mini bus crashes into lamp pole in Boyd’s Village

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A mini bus this afternoon (Dec. 6) crashed into a lamp pole and broke it into two after slamming into the rear of a pickup on the Island’s main Road in Boyd’s Village.

According to Sergeant Calvin Amory of the Traffic Department, “Preliminary investigations revealed that at about 4:00 p.m. today, passenger bus H8338, driven by Kenyatta Huggins of Sandy Point, and pickup PA6415, driven by Frederick Robinson of West Farm, were travelling on the Island’s Main Road from the direction of Sandy Point to Basseterre.

“The bus was travelling behind the pickup, and while in the vicinity of the bus shed in Boyd’s Village, the pickup stopped suddenly and the bus collided with its rear. The impact caused Huggins to lose control and the bus careered off the road and ran into a lamp post on the opposite side of the road and broke it into two parts.

Amory said while there was minor damage to the pickup, the front of the bus was badly damaged, adding that no one suffered any injury and investigations are ongoing.

This is the second time in five days that a vehicle had crashed into a lamp pole and causing it to be broken.

On Friday evening (Dec. 2), while travelling in the direction of the Marriott Hotel along the main road in Frigate Bay, the driver of motorcar P6046 encountered an accident.

SKNVibes learned that when the vehicle was in the vicinity of the junction of the road that leads to Buddies Bar and Grill, it ran off the road, crashed into a lamp pole and broke it.

Like the Boyd's Village traffic accident, there were no reported injuries but the bonnet and front bumper were damaged.
