Celebrity Solstice ships grace Port Zante on Wednesday

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, December 7th, 2011 (CUOPM)  –  Two Celebrity Solstice ships docked Wednesday at St. Kitts’ Port Zante with over 5,500 passengers.

     

    The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Silhouette, the fourth and newest member of Celebrity Cruises’ widely heralded Solstice fleet, arrived from St. Lucia with 2,809 passengers and later left for St. Thomas.

     

    The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Eclipse arrived from St. Maarten with 2,714 passengers and later left for Miami.

     

    Most of the 5,517 passengers from both ships went organised sightseeing tours of the island on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway and by taxis. Others went golfing, gambling, sailing, hiking, sea and sun bathing and shopping while others sampled the local cuisine at restaurants.

     

    The visit of the two Celebrity ships Wednesday brought the number of cruise passengers to 9,263 on Tuesday and Wednesday and 11,418 passengers for this week.

     

    On Tuesday the 2,281-passenger Mein Schiff2 arrived from St. Lucia with 1,774 passengers while the 2,540-passenger Serenade of the Seas berth with 1,966 passengers when it arrived from St. Maarten.

     

    On Monday the 2,450-passeger Celebrity Summit arrived from St. Thomas with 2,018 passengers.

     

    The parade of cruise ships to Port Zante continues Thursday with the arrival of the 2,092-passenger Queen Elizabeth. On Friday, two Carnival ships will berth – the 2680-passenger Miracle and the 3,050-passenger Victory.
