BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A man is currently in custody assisting police with their investigations with the early morning shooting of a Manager of one of TDC’s departments.

Information reaching this media house, which was confirmed by Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Ian Queeley, states that Curtis James, Manager of the Automotive Division of TDC’s Maintenance Department, was wounded on the side of his head this morning (Dec. 10) when a gunman fired a number of shots at him.

SKNVibes learned that shortly before 8:00 a.m. while James was driving along a road in Bird Rock on his way to work, a vehicle that was ahead of him stopped suddenly and blocked his path.

Reportedly, the driver exited his vehicle, went to James’ own and demanded why he was following him.

It was also reported that the driver drew a firearm and James took evasive action by driving around the vehicle that was blocking his path.

However, during the process, the driver fired multiple shots at James’s vehicle, some of which struck and penetrated the rear windows and doors and one grazed him on his temple.

The wounded Manager drove his vehicle to the Basseterre Police Station and reported the incident, and was taken to the JNF General Hospital where he was treated for his injury and discharged.

ACP Queeley told this media house that less than an hour after the incident, police held a man for questioning but preliminary investigations have not yet revealed the motive behind the shooting.

This is the second shooting incident to have occurred in St. Kitts in as many days.

On Thursday (Dec. 8) at approximately 10:35 p.m., Lynne Hawley, co-owner of Bobsy’s Restaurant and Bar in Frigate Bay, got the scare of her life when three armed, masked bandits, dressed in dark clothing robbed the establishment of an undisclosed sum of money.

In the process of the robbery, Hawley managed to run into a room and lock the door.

Infuriated by her action, the bandits discharged three rounds from their firearms into the door but, fortunately, Hawley was not hurt.

Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
