National Bank seminar for secondary school leavers

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, December 13th, 2011 -- Over twenty-five (25) fifth-form students from five secondary schools on St Kitts were better equipped for the world of work following the conclusion of a one-day career seminar hosted by the St Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited on December 7, 2011.  The seminar which forms part of the Bank’s 40th Anniversary calendar of activities was held under the theme “Preparing for the World of Work”. 

     

    During the brief opening ceremony the Bank’s Managing Director, Sir Edmund Lawrence encouraged the students to see the seminar as an avenue to advance themselves.  In his remarks he also highlighted the importance of students understanding what their goal was and the importance of not only individual and club pride but national pride as well.

     

    The day’s session focused on Resume Writing, Marketing Yourself, Conquering the Dreaded Interview, Projecting a Positive Job Attitude, Career Planning and Development and Managing Your Money.  Mr. Ericson James, Executive Manager Human Resources stated that the topics discussed at the seminar offered a wealth of information to students, and would certainly help them in their quest to enter the “world of work”.

     

    Students in attendance described the seminar as both impactful and informative and urged the Bank to continue to put on similar programmes.

     

    Following the conclusion of the presentations, the Chairman of the Bank’s Board of Directors, His Excellency Walford Gumbs reminded students of the unique opportunity that they had been given and encouraged them to embrace it wholeheartedly. He said that National will continue in its quest to support the young people. He presented participants with certificates and tokens, compliments of National.

     

    Students represented the Basseterre High School, Washington Archibald High School, Verchilds High School, the Charles E Mills Secondary School and the Cayon High School.
