Development Bank to give awards at 30th anniversary dinner

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts,December 13th, 2011  -- When the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis holds its annual awards dinner on Saturday night (December 17) at the Carambola Beach Club, South Friars Bay in St. Kitts, 38 individuals and organisations will be recognised through the giving of awards in four categories as part of the Bank’s 30th anniversary celebrations which kicked off in May.

     

    According to the Bank’s anniversary committee chairperson, Ms Marva Burroughs who is also the Bank’s Marketing Manager, the categories are the Business Partner Awards, Long Service Awards, Valuable Service Awards, and Excellence in Entrepreneurship/Customer Appreciation Awards.

     

    “Thirty years of success by the Development Bank could not have been achieved without the support of others,” commented Ms Burroughs. “We pay special thanks to all of them, and most importantly the 17 members of our staff who have jointly given a total of 280 years of dedicated service to this institution in its nation building endeavours.”

     

    Gracing the event will be the Prime Minister the Rt Hon Dr Denzil Douglas who as the Minister of Finance holds the Development Bank portfolio, and other invited distinguished guests. Playing hosts will the Bank’s Chairman Mr Elvis Newton and General Manager Mr Lenworth Harris.

     

    According to the Marketing Manager, the first category of awards will honour seven local, regional and international institutions that have worked with the Development Bank giving it logistical and institutional support as it carried out its mandate. Representatives from the seven institutions have been invited to the dinner to receive the awards.

     

    The second category is the Long Service Awards for staff members who have served ten years and more. Two individuals who would have served the Bank in the past will be honoured in the Valuable Services Awards category, while twelve individuals and businesses who are Bank clients, eight from St. Kitts and four from Nevis will be honoured in the Excellence in Entrepreneurship/Customer Appreciation Awards category.

     

    Wholly owned by the government, Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis was established by an Act of Parliament NO. 1 of 1981 and opened its doors to the public on May 22, 1981. It is celebrating its 30th anniversary under the theme ‘3o Years of Success: Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis Promoting Total Empowerment Through Economic, Social and National Development’.
