Fans create controversy over top bands double launch

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FANS are in a frenzy as they anticipate the simultaneous album release of two of the major bands in St. Kitts.

The bands, Grand Masters Band and Nu Vybes Band International, are scheduled to release their long awaited albums tonight (Dec. 14) at the same time.

Controversy over the double release has been aired on Facebook and Blackberry Messenger by the fans, some of whom are saying that Nu Vybes was wrong to schedule their album release on the same night as Grand Masters.

Some are voicing that the releases should not affect anyone as fans will follow 'their band', while others are of the opinion that the general music lovers who would normally listen to each launch would not be able to properly digest the songs due to the timing of the releases.

However, most seem to be excited about tonight's release as the long wait will finally be over and this may be the very first time two bands have launched on the same night at the same time.

SKNVibes spoke with Wingrove Hicks, Manager of the Grand Masters Band about the double launch who stated that he was unaware of the rival band's scheduled release but said, "After defeating them for four consecutive years, maybe they were scared of us releasing before them, but that is just an assumption."

Manager of the Nu Vybes Band International, Junie Adams, however explained that he had heard about the Grand Masters Band scheduled release "but you cannot be sure" noting that it is no issue as all bands play on the road at the same time and "fans are going to follow their favourite bands".

He further explained that the band got tied up in the recording studio, and is now ready to release.

He said that his band scheduling their launch on the same night is not intentional and that the band does not apologize for it, and "barring unforeseen circumstances, the band will release tonight".

The Grand Masters Band is scheduled to launch their album on ZIZ Radio with Dj Ronnie Rascal at 10:00 p.m., while Nu Vybes Band International will release their album on Freedom Radio with Sweet Sister Sensia at the same time.
