Kollision Band ‘Nar Ease Up’!

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FANS of the Kollision Band were more than ecstatic when the group pushed through the odds and released its Sugar Mas’ 40/40 album and proving that come what may ‘dey’ ‘Nar Ease Up’.

The eight-track-album was launched last Thursday (Dec. 15) on Freedom Radio with St. Kitts’ popular disc jockey Leslie ‘Sugar Bowl’ Morton.

As explained by the group’s manager Shervin White, the band had experienced some difficulties during the past year and as a result, some people did not anticipate its “come back”.

But they are back and ready to deliver to their fans.

“This year was really a rough year for the band. We have been through a lot of ups and downs, but amidst it all the fellows stuck to it. We kept together and we are finally here. Some people thought that the band would never come out. They even put the word on the street that Kollision done. But they didn’t know that we just went in the studio, came back out and we decided we ‘nar ease up’. And I will tell all of them, look out for Kollision Band!”

    1. Bounce
    2. Wanna Be There
    3. Gal Come To Wuk Up
    4. Ghetto Youths
    5. Stroke
    6. Come For Carnival
    7. Freaky Gal
    8. Stop Cut Style

Most of the songs are of an up-tempo and peppy nature with the exception of ‘Ghetto Youths’ and ‘Come For Carnival’.

The former carries a more conscious vibe, encouraging young people to steer clear of crime and violence. It is sung and written by the band’s drummer Akeem ‘Superman’ Moore, while the other, which has a slow soca feel, is a collaboration between one of the band’s singers, Janos ‘Babby’ Bagnall and his long time friend and popular local artiste, Nicha B.

The group’s fans seemed pleased with the release and took the opportunity to call in to the radio station to extend congratulations on the latest achievement.

Almost 600 individuals listened to or viewed the release via internet and mobile devices.

Fans were given the assurance that “Kollision is here to stay” and “no matter what people say about us, we will be on the road…”

SKNVibes was told that whatever success the band has made up to this point was attributed to its fans, and, as a result, their ‘Nar Ease Up’ album is being sold at a reduced rate.

“For the CD, we know that it is hard right now, it is really hard and that is why the band came together and we decided to give away the CD for a special price…$30. We want to give back to the fans because the fans are who make us. Without the fans we would have never been here,” White said.
