    BRADES, Montserrat, December 19th, 2011 – The Ministry of Communications Works and Labour has confirmed that there is a shortage of Avgas in Antigua, which is used by the airlines which service Montserrat.

     

    In a brief statement, the ministry said this shortage which is expected “to last a couple days and will likely affect the airlines schedules” of both FlyMontserrat and SVG Air. “Both airlines are currently making best efforts, to the extent possible, to minimize disruptions to their service.”

     

    This situation is beyond the control of the airlines and the Government of Montserrat, the statement read. The general public is asked to call the respective airlines for further updates and to confirm travel arrangements.
