    The Caribbean Voice and Data Service (CVDS) a locally owned company aims to provide innovative systems for improved communication and will strive to become a premier service provider in the communications industry.
     
    CVDS, which is situated on Cayon Street, in the Glimbaro Building held a Press Conference on Tuesday January 11, at the Ocean Terrace Inn, Conference Room, introducing to the different members of the media their company and what it is about.
     
    Present at the conference were representatives from Cable and Wireless, including Lawrence McNaughton, Executive Vice President for Caricom Services within the Caribbean, Lincoln Hazell and Seymour Morton Managing Director and Operating Manager of CVDS respectively.
     
    Hazell said during his speech, said that CVDSs main focus is technology and applications that will speed up communication.
     
    We want to make it less expensive for people to communicate and facilitate worldwide business, he said. C.V.D.S applications are aimed at improving communications in the expanding market of interactive services and our vision is to expand these sevices into internationally recognized icons of the communications industry.

    CVDS offers Prepaid Phone Cards that are toll-free accessible, easy to use, internationally available, has enhanced features and can be used from residential lines, business lines, phone booths and cellular.
     
    On July 30th 2003, applications were made to the National Telecommunication Regulatory Commission for a Simple International Voice Resale License that was approved on January 26th 2004.
     
    Immediately after the approval the CVDS entered into negotiations with Cable & Wireless and other International carriers, trying to find the best rates and services available to relieve the residents and visitors of St. Kitts and Nevis of the high cost in relation to the International Telephone calls.
     
    On 8th October a Service Provider Agreement was signed between Cable & Wireless (St. Kitts/Nevis) Limited and CVDS Ltd. Where the framework was created for a working Relationship between the two companies.

    According to Hazell& This agreement enables CVDS to offer its service via Cable & Wireless Network. This means that Cable & Wireless customers can access our international gateway using their existing Telephones.
     
    Hazell went on to say that the operation can be accomplished by dialing a toll free number of 1-800-744-9090 or short code of 777.
     
    Hazell concluded his speech by saying negotiations with Cable & Wireless was an uphill battle and is still going on.
     
    But we have found common ground in enough areas to allow us to commence service to the public, he said.
     
    Hazell said presently they have $25 and $50 Prepaid Phone cards and offers the following low rates:

    After the conference all persons were treated to refreshments and gives a complimentary $25 CVDS Prepaid Phone card.
     
    The company also offers internet and computer training, with classes available for all ages at the Glimbaro Building on Cayon Street.
