~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS - WITH the hope that he would refrain from being engaged in any further illegal activities, a city Magistrate sentenced Elsworth John Boddie of Tabernacle to six months imprisonment after he was convicted of two offences brought against him.

SKNVibes understands, by way of a police press release, that the police responded to a report on April 13, 2008 and after investigations, arrested and charged Boddie.

Boddie stood before the District “A” Magistrate’s Court on Monday, April 28, 2008 having been charged with “being found in an enclosed premises” and “causing malicious damage”.

He was convicted on both charges, sentenced to serve six months imprisonment on the first and placed on a two-year bond during which he is to stay at least 100 feet from the virtual complainant [VC]. If Boddie breaches court’s order, he would have to serve a further three-month stint at Her Majesty’s Prison.

For the offence of “causing malicious damage”, he was cautioned and ordered to make compensatory payment to the VC in the sum of $1 000. This sum is to be paid within eight months and if, for whatever reason, he is unable to comply with this stipulation a three-month prison sentence would be imposed.

Meanwhile, two juveniles, a 15-year-old from Phillips Village and a 17-year-old from Upper Cayon, appeared before the said court on the Monday on charges of “wounding” and were both convicted.

The younger of the two was placed on a 12-month bond and was ordered to be of good behavior, keep the peace, adhere to a 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew and is to attend counselling sessions.  He was also ordered to make $200 compensatory payment to the VC in the case and has two weeks to pay or serve 14 days imprisonment.

The older boy was also bonded for a 12-month period and has been ordered to be of good behavior, attend school classes, adhere to a 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew and pay compensation to the VC.  The sum is to be paid within hour months or a two-month custodial sentence would be imposed.
