Good times have returned with ROCKAWAY 2011

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – REMEMBER the nights when you used to rock away? Missed the music of the 1970’s and 1980’s? Want to go to an event where you can be well dressed and mingle with the grown and sexy while simultaneously enjoying top class entertainment? Then Rockaway 2011 at Cloud 9 VIP Hall on December 26, may just be the party for you!

According to Dr. Garfield Alexander, senior partner in GMS Multimedia and Entertainment and Graphics company who are organizers of the event, Rockaway 2011 appeals to the older demographics 30 years and over and also those who appreciate and love the music of the 1970's and 1980's.

He feels that most of the events throughout the year cater to just the younger generation and there are not many parties appealing to older persons.

“Rockaway will be a premiere entertainment juggernaut with music ranging from the best of classic and contemporary Calypso; slow, sweet, Soca; and rhythm-driven R&B, Rockers music and Rocksteady. We are bringing back the house-party days,” he said.

The night will begin at 10:00 p.m. and will feature performances by The Mighty Contender, Lord Kut, King Starshield, King Konris, King Meeko, KC5 Band and DJ Wett Dutt.

The lineup features a mixture of young and old entertainers where Alexander said they wanted to give persons an enjoyment of various genres.

“We wanted to widen the scope and give the persons attending this historic event musicians from the past and present and future. We can all enjoy all genres across all times once it is of a high quality.

“Boxing Day is for everyone but Boxing night belongs to those who don’t usually come out and enjoy themselves. Our event will be an early New Years Ball looking at the lineup,” he said.

The host for the night is Toni Frederick of Winn FM and tickets costs EC$100 which includes one glass of wine or a drink of your choice & hors d'oeuvres.

On December 26th 2011, there will be a paradigm shift in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as citizens are revitalized and rocked to the core at Rockaway 2011.

It will be the best of times as that very mature and professional demographic of our twin-island Federation, raised on the sound and the movements that encapsulated the 1970’s and 1980’s music scene meet and merge in a luxurious atmosphere.

They will rock the night away to the best of current and legendary local talent and most especially music from the nights when we used to rockaway.
