BASSETERRE St. Kitts, December 22nd 2011 - Born on October 4th 1988, Kalia Huggins was raised and nurtured in the spirited community of Parsons. At a very tender age this extraordinarily beautiful child was already captivating audiences with her grace and charm as a member of the Zion Moravian Youth Dance Group. However after being introduced to what would eventually become the love of her life (sports), Kalia soon traded in her ballet slippers for a pair of sneakers - a decision which would ultimately shape her into the confident young woman she is today.
In particular Kalia credits sports with her competitive spirit and indomitable will to win. Guided by the simple yet powerful mantra “No Fear,” Kalia has managed to excel in almost every sporting discipline.
Quite recently she had the distinct privilege of carrying the pride of a nation on her shoulders as a member of the celebrated 2011 OECS Under 23 Netball Championship Team.
In addition to sports Kalia is equally passionate about people. Having attained 8 CXC O’Level passes during her tenure at the Sandy Point High School, Kalia intends to pursue a career in the field of Psychology with special focus on children and teens. She views this career choice as an opportunity to make a contribution to her country by healing the minds and hearts of troubled youth in the Federation. In particular she is drawn to victims of child abuse and is devoted to placing the spotlight on an issue which she believes has lurked in the shadows for far too long.
When Kalia is not working as the head of Sales and Marketing for F.Y.I.on St. Kitts Nevis she unwinds by drawing, painting and producing music.
Additionally Kalia has a flair for mechanics and she prides herself in being versed in an area, which young women generally shy away from.
Whether she’s on the court or in the boardroom, taking apart a car engine or “ripping the runway”, painting a mural or producing pulsating music beats this 23 year old beauty is the quintessential 21st century woman: intelligent, dynamic and versatile.
