Logos II: ‘Bringing knowledge, help and hope’ to SKN

BASSETERRE, ST KITTS - AFTER a two year hiatus, the Logos II will make her triumphant return to Port Zante today May 3rd-6th, bringing with her nearly 5,000 unique book titles for sale in fields such as science, technology, children’s books, sports, hobbies, cookery, novels, dictionaries and Christian books.

According to a press release from the ship’s organizers, Operation Mobilization--an interdenominational Christian ministry service, “these books have been carefully chosen to be of interest to every member of the family and to meet with the educational and social needs of the local community.”

Residents of St. Kitts & Nevis are being encouraged to make the journey Port Zante this Labor Day Weekend as it may be their last chance to board the Logos II. The ship will retire later this year when its sister ship, the Logos Hope, finishes its preparations to take over the ministry services of Operation Mobilization.

The Logos II began her worldwide mission of spreading knowledge in 1988 after her predecessor, the Logos, ran aground in Tierra del Fuego due to a particularly tumultuous storm. ~~Adz:Right~~

Though she was originally designed to operate a ferry service in Morocco, the Logos II has boarded over 10 million visitors to date while visiting 339 ports-of-call in 82 countries. These visitors have purchased an astounding 11 million books globally since the ship’s maiden voyage.

The expectations for this year’s visit to the Federation will be set high considering that more than 8,000 Kittitians and Nevisians visited the ship in her 2006, brief two-day visit.

In addition to the Book Fair, special family friendly events have been planned to begin at 6pm every night during the ship’s call, including a Movie Night on Saturday, a Youth Explosion on Sunday and a Family Night on Monday.

Opening times of the Logos II Book Fair will be Saturday, Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Entrance fee will be only $1. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
