Patrons jam til’a morning at Inception

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT was minutes before 10:00 a.m. when the final band Nu Vybes, ended their gig at the once per year mega event Inception held at the historical Fort Thomas Hotel.

Patrons jammed to a number of bands providing musical entertainment from 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. for the second annual event that was this time dubbed the ‘Wotless Edition’.

Odisi out of Nevis was the first band to kick things off, followed by Grand Masters, Krosfyah featuring Edwin Yearwood out of Barbados, Small Axe, then Nu Vybes.

In between the change-overs local DJs Sugar Bowl, Wett Dutt and Sweet Sister Sensia provided the music.

Inception is an all-inclusive Carnival Fete organized by Professional Promoters, who offer patrons an unlimited amount of drinks at their event for one flat rate of EC$100 for 12 hours.

Those who prefer VIP would pay more and enjoy unlimited drinks and food.

Last year, Inception featured Burning Flames out of Antigua, as patrons partied ‘til morning with Small Axe.

A larger turnout was seen this year and one of the organizers, Anthony Johnson at the event, told SKNVibes that he was impressed by the large crowd and quality of entertainment.

“The performances onstage, people interacting with the performers, people are having a great time at the bars, and the bars are not closing, not even for a second.

“The event is a work in progress, just a $100 can cover the entertainment alone, and still you get all these drinks free plus breakfast so it’s well worth it,” he said.

Johnson said that they are thankful to their sponsors and that during these economic hard times they were still able to make a contribution whether in cash or kind.

“We’re looking forward to the event growing; when we decided to host Inception, it was not a onetime thing; we decided that we were going to do something for the long-term; we want to see this 10, 15 years from now. Inception will be a big part of St. Kitts and Nevis Carnival.

He also said that this year they will be making donations to two charities Operation Future and Foundation for the Advancement of Children.

The bands played a number of their hits including those from their recent carnival albums while the DJs kept things level with reggae and dancehall tunes.
