~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS - THE number of persons arrested and charged in relation to the murder of Gregory Anthony Zakers have increased with the addition of another male resident of St. Pauls.
According to information reaching this media house, sometime late last week, 22-year-old Moses Gardner was picked up by police and shortly thereafter, charged with the murder of the 20-year-old.
This latest arrest brings to six the number of persons arrested and charged with Zakers’ murder.
Less than two months after he was acquitted of the September 8, 2006 murder of Josh Smithen of St. Pauls, a tourist spotted Zakers’ lifeless body at the cliff side of Black Rocks, Belle Vue. SKNVibes understands that the find was reported to a taxi driver who in turn reported it to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.
Sometime last week, investigations into the matter led to the arrest of five young men, including a juvenile, all of whom are from St. Pauls.
Zakers was reported missing by his family who was not seen by them since Thursday, April 10, 2008 when he left his Basseterre home reportedly bound for a female friend’s home in St. Pauls. His body was discovered two days later.
Initial reports which suggested that Zakers was shot multiple times were disproved when an autopsy revealed that he died as a result of an injury inflicted with a “blunt object”.
Zakers is the Federation’s sixth murder victim for the year. Two others have since taken place driving St. Kitts and Nevis’ murder rate to eight.
Investigations continue.
