Bankers Mas Camp, Red Devils and Grand Masters top winners for Carnival 40/40

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CARNIVAL Grand Parade Troupe Bankers Mas Camp, Red Devils J’Ouvert Troupe and the Grand Masters Band have won the top prizes for Sugar Mas 40/40 which was announced today (Jan. 3) by Carnival Chairperson Shannon Hawley on ZIZ.
     
    The Red Devils J’Ouvert troupe amassed a total of 192 points just three points ahead of second place winners Xtreme who amassed 189 points while Winn Jammers gathered 149 points and placed third.
     
    One of the most controversial results each year, the Road March title, has once again been won by the Grand Masters Band who earned 27 points for ‘Step Pon Dem’ which featured the chant, “None a dem”.
     
    This is the band’s seventh win, and won the title three times in a row from 2007-2009. In 2010 the title was won by Konris Maynard with Unstoppable Force.
     
    In second place for Road March was the Small Axe Band with ‘Soap Drop’ with 19 points and there was a tie for third place between Nu Vybes Band’s ‘I-Rep SKB’ and Mighty Honesty with ‘Sing Stupidness’ both gained 11 points.
     
    However, Banker’s Mas Camp’s ‘Somewhere in Taiwan’ is the big winners as they won all five categories for the judging of the Parade Troupes.
     
    Along with winning the Troupe of the Year with 313 points, they also won Largest Troupe, Most Colourful Troupe, King of the Bands with ‘Kite Master’ and Queen of the Bands with ‘The Phases of the Moon’.
     
    In second place for Troupe of the Year was Fusion Fantasy with 283 points and Phunn Makers Carnival Gems of Class was third with 242 points.
     
    The parade of troupes and bands continue today for Last Lap which will bring Carnival 40/40 Non-Stop Mas & Party to an official end.
