Sunday 4TH May was a memorable day for the St. Kitts Branch of the Red Cross. The Cayon, Sandy Point, St. Paul’s and Basseterre Districts engaged in a keenly contested First Aid event involving bandaging under time constraints, as well as rendering First Aid in two simulated accidents.
The spotlight was taken by the Basseterre Juniors, aged 8 to 15. These youngsters touched the audience with their neat and skilful bandaging, which was completed within the time limit.
The judges, Dr Ian Jacobs and Sister John declared the youths of the Basseterre District winners in both the junior and senior categories.
The event, which was held at Red Cross Headquarters, is the first in the series leading up to the celebration of World Red Cross Day on May 8th
St. Kitts Branch Director, Mrs. Natalie Fough conceptualized this contest with a view to empowering the nation’s youth to serve humanity.
