BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS - THREE technicians employed by the TDC Group of Companies were last week officially bestowed documents certifying their proficiency in the maintenance and repair of Canon “high tech” Copiers.

The three technicians, Giovonnie Saunders, Valdis Jeffers and Davis Saunders, all stationed at TDC’s Business Equipment Repair Shop, successfully completed an intensive two-week course from March 3-14 which was facilitated by Alejandro Samaniego of Canon Latin America.

At a simple ceremony held at TDC’s Training Room on Friday, last, TDC’s Office Supplies Department/City Drug Store General Manager Percival Hanley congratulated the technicians on their success and commended them for achieving pass marks in the 90s.

Before a small gathering of media representatives and TDC employees, Frank Claxton, Assistant Manager of the Office Supplies Department/City Drug Store, presented the “certificates of proficiency” to the three men.

SKNVibes spoke with Giovonnie Saunders who explained that while the course was difficult he endured and it was worth the effort.

“It was not easy but it was worth it. It was beneficial…it’s actually enabling me to be more forthcoming with the customers and more proficient in the field.”

David Saunders explained to this media house that while the course was not difficult, the work was plentiful and proved beneficial especially for the customer.

“It prepares a technician to troubleshoot a machine and reduce the ‘downtime’ of a machine because the technician would be able to troubleshoot faster. These days, in business places, customers need to have their paperwork done within a specific time, and what we try to do is to prevent the customer from having to wait over an hour or more. This helps the customer, in that they can depend on TDC to have their machine up and running within an hour’s time or less.  The course was a lot of work but not difficult. It was nothing new to me but the theory applied was beneficial.”

“It was a lot of work but was actually not difficult for me because I’ve been on other courses. It was very interesting. It was basically to give us a brief idea on the technology of the Canon machine operations and so on,” Jeffers told SKNVibes.
