Mr. Lindsay Grant - Leader of the People's Action Movement

Basseterre; St. Kitts - Over the past few months, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has repeatedly asked Dr. Douglas' Labour Government to investigate violations regarding the maiming and killings of animals.
In response Prime Minister Dr. Douglas said that he would not do so under duress. PETA reported that their requests to St. Kitts and Nevis Attorney General, Mr. Dennis Merchant also went unanswered.
As a result of this delayed action by the Government into alleged abuses, the St. Kitts and Nevis tourism industry continues to be negatively affected.
Since PETA's recently announced travel boycott, the US-based travel agency Holiday Systems International now refuses to book holidays to St. Kitts and Nevis for its more than 300, 000 clients. The decision to follow this action is also under discussion at other travel agencies around the globe.
The St. Kitts and Nevis economy as well as the livelihood of many people in the Federation depends on the tourism industry. ~~Adz:Right~~
The People's Action Movement (PAM) therefore calls Prime Minister Douglas to take responsible and expedient action in the matter.
Mr. Lindsay Grant
Leader of the Opposition
