St. George Grenada, January 10th 2012  –  Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition, Dr. The Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell is calling on all parties concerned to do everything possible to end the current impasse between the Grenada Breweries Limited and the Technical and Allied Workers Union in the interest of the workers and the nation.

On the request of the Union a five member team headed by the Opposition Leader met with a nine member delegation led by Sen. Chester Humphrey who detailed the events and circumstances which lead to the current impasse between his Union and the Grenada Breweries Ltd. 

The Union Leader appealed to the Opposition to intervene and do whatever is possible to bring an end to the current deadlock, since the Union intends to heighten the industrial actions if the company refuses to end the current lock out of workers. 

In response, Dr. Mitchell said he is extremely concerned about the present situation and the implications for the over 100 workers and their families and by extension the country.  He indicated that he will not want to see any job lost in the already dismal economic situation which exists in the country. 

Dr. Mitchell gave the commitment that the Opposition will immediately make every attempt to engage the Management of the Grenada Breweries to get the other side's account of the situation in seeking a resolution.
