CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - MUSIC maestro Michael Herald Sutton who died on February 2007 was remembered on Saturday night at the Nevis Cultural Centre by members of the Nevis Gospel Association on the day he would have celebrated his 42nd birth anniversary.
Top gospel artistes turned up to pay tribute to the late musician who they said had inspired and trained them. Wrenford Dore, a popular radio personality on Nevis, said Sutton’s spirit would live on.
Dore, who was the moderator of the concert, declared that it was Sutton’s brainchild for the formation of an association of gospel artistes on Nevis.
Many artistes described Sutton as “a musical genius” and among them was the Maranatha. The Maranatha is a choir group that he assisted in establishing, and its members also sang at the concert.
Sutton was well-known in the community for his musical talent as a pianist and he played at many functions organised by numerous schools and churches on the island. He was the Coordinator of the Nevis Department of Education music section. ~~Adz:Right~~
