New murder cases set for July

~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE two new murder cases appearing on the docket for the May 2008 Criminal Assizes are scheduled to be heard in July.
The hearing dates were assigned yesterday during the opening day of the May Criminal Assizes.
Defence Force soldier Louis Richards stood before presiding Judge Justice Francis Belle and entered a not guilty plea to the charge of murder and two counts of wounding with intent brought against him.
Richards is accused of murdering Clyde Williams of Old Road on August 3, 2007. It is reported that he shot indiscriminately into a crowd which resulted in Williams losing his life and two others being injured.
His case is scheduled to be heard on July 14, 2008. Richards is represented by Jason Hamilton.
William Benjamin, Leroy Benjamin Jr., Khoy ‘Red Rat’ Jeffers and Shervin ‘Squeaky’ George, who have been jointly charged with the murder of Leroy Benjamin Junior’s wife, Michelle Weekes-Benjamin, are scheduled to stand trial on July 16, 2008.
The foursome stood before Justice Francis Belle yesterday and submitted to the court that they are not guilty of the crime, which took place sometime during October 29-30, 2006.
On Wednesday, November 1, 2006, Weekes-Benjamin’s partly-decomposed body was discovered in an incomplete septic tank of a Rosemary Lane building that was at the time under construction.
Her husband and his brother, William Benjamin, were the first to be arrested followed by the others.
Hesketh Benjamin is representing William Benjamin, Leroy Benjamin Jr. is represented by Michella Adrien, Khoy Jeffers is represented by Chesley Hamilton while Shervin George is self-represented.
