DHL Nevis half marathon 2012

    CHARLESTOWN Nevis, January 19th, 2012  --  The year of 2012 is going to be an exciting one for athletes and sport lovers around the world, as everyone gears up for the London Olympics and athletes and nations fight to qualify to appear on the grandest sporting stage in the whole world.

     

    The tiny island of Nevis will also be joining the sporting frenzy as it hosts it’s very first Half Marathon  event on the 29th January 2012, and invites runners from St Kitts & Nevis and around the region to come and celebrate the occasion.

     

    Organized by the event management company Event SKN in collaboration with the Triathlon Federation of St Kitts & Nevis the event will also include a 10km and a 5km distance run/walk for the more casual running/walking enthusiasts and younger athletes.

     

    Part of the race proceeds will be donated to DASKN the diabetes society to help raise awareness of health and fitness, also to the islands newly formed ‘Over The Top’ track & field club formed and coached by former Olympian Kurvin Wallace.

     

    The races will start and finish at the Octagon Bar in Charlestown with out and back courses for all three distances, the 5km runners will turn around close to Four Seasons, the 10km runners will turn at Cotton Ground and the Half Marathoners will head out to the airport before making the return to finish back in town.
