BRADES, Montserrat, January 22nd, 2012 – The Honourable Reuben T. Meade is in Brussels along with a high-level team from the Government of Montserrat as he leads his final ministerial meeting as chairman of the Overseas Countries & Territories Association (OCTA).

Representatives of the OCTs of the United Kingdom, France, The Netherlands and Denmark will be attending the one-day meeting, which precedes the annual EU-OCT Forum January 24 – 26.

Accompanying Premier Meade are Financial Secretary John Skerritt, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Premier Beverley Mendes, Cabinet Secretary Angela Greenaway, Head of the Montserrat UK Office Janice Panton and Director of Project Aid Joseph Irish.

On Monday, Premier Meade is expected to chair the OCTA Ministerial Conference.  Scheduled sessions include: EU-OCT Relationship; Trade, regional integration and EU-OCT cooperation; and Environment, Climate Change and EU-OCT cooperation. The premier is also to lead discussions on working towards a mutually beneficial partnership between the European Union and the OCTs.

Premier Meade and the Montserrat delegation will be hosting a gala event on the evening of the 25th which will include masqueraders and a UK-based band.

Mr. Kuupik Kleist, Premier of Greenland is expected to take over the chairmanship of the OCTA at the close of Monday’s session.
