    Mr Anthony Jones
    Charlestown Nevis
(January 25, 2005) -- The Principals Association in Nevis will be conducting a benefit lunch on Friday January 28, at the Red Cross Headquarters, Chapel Street in Charlestown in aid of retired principal Mr Anthony Jones.

According to the President of the association, Mr Carl Williams, who is also the principal of St. Johns Primary School, Mr Jones was involved in a serious vehicular accident on New Years Day and was evacuated to Trinidad for specialised treatment, where reports indicate that he has since lost a leg, but is in high spirits.

What we are trying to do is to raise some funds to offset the cost of his medical expenses, explained Mr Williams. I think most of you would be aware that in the past the Nevis Principals Association would have done a similar gesture for another principal, Mr Autnell Swanston of the Prospect Primary School.

He noted that while it was unfortunate that Mr Swanston passed away, the association was able to raise some funds to give to his immediate family.

Mr Williams as a result made a passionate appeal to the general public to come out in large numbers on Friday and support the worthy cause.

Mr Jones has served education for a very long time, having been a teacher, also principal at Prospect Primary School, and lastly at Combermere Primary School, pointed out Mr Williams.

And even though he was retired, he was still very deeply involved in education, having just recently assisted in organising the St. Kitts-Nevis primary schools football festival, added the President of the Nevis Principals Association. So again I am appealing to you to give us the support because at this point in time we do need it from one and all.
