BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS-AN unidentified student of Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine was rushed to the Joseph N France Hospital this morning (May 16th) around 7:50am when her vehicle overturned in a traffic accident just west of Hyo’s Bar in the West Farm area.

Mervin 'PIGGY' Hendrickson of Sandy Point, driver of passenger bus H8916, had stopped behind bus passenger HA219, aka “Link Up’ to pick-up a passenger when the collision happened. “She come around to pass us and hit the [front driver’s side] wheel of my bus, and I run into the back of the first bus. I can’t say how fast she was going, but she was moving,” Hendrickson told SKNVibes.com.

A passenger on the ‘Link Up’ bus said the accident happened so quickly she didn’t know what was happening until it was over. “I was sitting in the second row behind the driver when I felt this hard jerk. I looked out of the window and the girl’s car had rolled over on the hill,” the woman recounted.

George ‘GULLAY’ Gaton of Sandy Point was driving the ‘Link Up’ bus at the time of the accident and confirmed his passenger’s story. “I didn’t even see it happen. I felt the crash and saw the car rolling to my right.”   ~~Adz:Right~~

Amazingly, the Ross student who was driving the white Mazda, P3803, sustained only minor injuries from the accident, a miracle which some of the West Farm residents who observed the accident attributed to the fact that she was wearing her seatbelt.

SKNVibes.com spoke to the man who drove the young woman to the hospital and he was confident the woman would be able to make a full recovery soon. “She had some bruises on her arm, but other than that she was ok. She was a bit shaken up, but I think she will be ok.”

None of the passengers on either bus was injured, though both were picking up their final passenger before maximum capacity.

This marks the second serious accident to occur in the area within three months, causing some residents to take issue with what one called “inadequate” signage in the area. “It’s hard to see over the hill and people drive very fast around this corner. It’s just dangerous,” the concerned citizen told SKNVibes.com.

On March 5th of this year, two passenger busses collided head-on on the same stretch of road, causing one woman to be trapped for almost an hour and several other passengers to suffer minor injuries.
