Surcharge Application Being Checked for Accuracy

~~Adz:Left~~Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNIS): The Government today announced that a computer application put in place earlier this year to control the fuel surcharge of householders was being checked for accuracy.

In an effort to perfect the system and maximize savings to customers, Minister of State, the Hon. Nigel A. Carty expressed that the staff of the Technology and Electricity Departments had been working tirelessly over the past several weeks to ensure that the best possible outcome was reached.

“We really have tried and tested several workable scenarios, involving all of the relevant stakeholders, and although the system itself is still being tweaked, I am confident that it will be fully up and running in the very near future,” Minister Carty added.

In the meantime, customers are still being asked to visit the Electricity Department to pick up their ‘quick bills’ and to pay on their existing bills to stay current with their payments.

The Electricity Department also wishes to apologize for any inconvenience caused, and wholly stresses the need for consumers to engage in conservation measures.

For additional inquiries, the general public can contact Mrs. Janet Nias, Chief Consumer Clerk at 465-2000, ext. 241.
