Delta Squad to conduct Zero Tolerance Ops in Federation

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MEMBERS of the Delta Squad were yesterday (Feb. 2) launched into a series of operations in St. Kitts and sister isle Nevis, and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is advising the public to cooperate with the law enforcement officers.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer Sergeant Stephen Hector, “the Delta Squad will be conducting a series of operations in various places within both islands of the Federation and the general public is therefore advised to cooperate with this zero tolerance initiative which is geared towards maintaining law and order within the Federation”.

Hector emphatically stated that all offenders of the laws of the Federation would be dealt with in accordance with the Law and Force Policies of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Since its formation in the last quarter of 2011, the Delta Squad, one of Commissioner Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn’s initiatives in taking back the streets and making the Federation a safer place to both residents and visitors, has made a number of arrests for various offences on both islands.

This squad, coupled with the efficiency demonstrated by the Intelligence Unit and the Criminal Investigation Department, is slowly but surely causing the public to regain its confidence and trust in the police force.

Delta Squad has been regularly patrolling the ‘hotspots’ in St. Kitts; a strategy which has significantly realised the reduction of gun-related and other serious crimes committed in those areas.

However, despite their hard work and success, some sections of the populace do not appreciate the modus operandi of some of its members who are said to be the perpetrators of excessive force.
