Three fined for drugs possession; one for wounding

~~Adz:Left~~ CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THREE men appeared in the Nevis Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, May 20 and were convicted and fined a total of EC$18 100 on separate charges of drug possession, while a fourth man was convicted and fined for a wounding offence.
Ashley Parris of Bath Village was convicted by Magistrate Yasmine Clarke and fined EC$15 000 for possession of drugs with intent to supply.
Parris is expected to pay the fine within six months and if in default will be jailed for one year. At the time of committing the offence, he was in possession of EC$2 489 and US$990 which was forfeited to the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The offence occurred in Bath Village on April 25, 2008.
Juan Nisbett of Newcastle was convicted and fined EC$1 600 for possession of controlled drugs. He is required to pay the fine within three months or serve a three-month sentence at Her Majesty’s Prison.
Police Prosecutor Inspector Andre Mitchell told the court that Nisbett committed the offence in Stoney Grove on April 4, 2008.
Marvin Lewis of Pump Road was convicted and fined EC$1 500 to be paid in three months or serve a three-month prison term. He was convicted for possession of controlled drugs, committed at Pump Road on April 9, 2008.
Selwyn Gonsalves of Fountain Village was convicted and fined EC$1 500 for a wounding offence. He is required to pay the fine within six months and, if in default, will be imprisoned for six months. The offence occurred in Fountain Village on April 5, 2008.
