    Ambassadorial and Consular appointments approved

    ~~Adz:Right~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THREE individuals in the local society were approved by Cabinet to take on ambassadorial and consular roles and build upon the relationships established between St. Kitts and Nevis and other countries.

     

    The approval was given during Monday’s Cabinet meeting on the recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

     

    The May 19, 2008 Post Cabinet Briefing informs that medical practitioner Dr. Caroline Lawrence, who specialises in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, was approved for appointment as Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Norway to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

     

    She will replace Collin Mallelieu, who served in the said post for a number of years.

     

    To serve as Honorary Consul of Austria to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, local businessman, Reginald Amory has been approved. The briefing informs that Amory served as Vice Consul of Austria for the past five years.

     

    Deputy Directory of the Social Security Board Steve Wrensford was approved for appointment as Ambassador to Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago. This post was previously held by the late Fred Lam.

     

    The government has expressed its gratitude to those persons who served in the aforementioned offices.

     

    “The Government wishes to thank Mr. Collin Mallalieu immensely for having made significant contributions to the development of the Federation as Honorary Consul of Norway over the last several years. Government wishes to thank Mr. Amory for his sterling contribution to the development of the country in his former consular position. On the occasion of this new appointment, Government wishes to thank the wife and family of the late Mr. Fred Lam for their understanding and sacrifice as Mr. Lam served this country as a distinguished ambassador to Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago for many years before his passing late last year.”
