Press Release (BVI)

ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, February 13th, 2012  --  The Rotary Club of Tortola is proud to announce its Annual fundraising and auction event which is known as the "Grand Affair" to be held on Saturday March 3rd, at Scrub Island. This year's event has been dubbed “A Latin Fiesta”.

The Grand Affair is the Club's signature fundraiser, the proceeds from which will go towards:
    • Children with Special Needs/Autism – Assist with the establishment of services for people with autism in the Territory.

    • MAKOS Swim Club - A community volunteer organization offering opportunities for those interested in competitive swimming and representing the Virgin Islands locally and abroad.

    • Youth Development/Micro-businesses promotion – Development of a directory for young entrepreneurs engaged in micro-businesses like car washes, babysitting services, beauty, book-keeping, website development etc. and to also assist with job placement and marketing.

Last year the Club raised $130K towards the club’s commitment to the development and empowerment of youth and other local charities.

This year, approximately 140 persons will enjoy an elegant evening with an ambience, music and food inspired by our neighboring Latin countries. Attendees will also enjoy an exclusive champagne boat ride to Scrub Island, an opportunity to browse and purchase quality art work, stunning jewelry, exotic day sails and unforgettable vacation packages among other things.

The Rotary Club of Tortola is also pleased to be partnering with the BVI’s very own award winning Culinary Team, who will prepare the Latin-inspired menu.

The President and members of the Rotary Club of Tortola are also grateful to the BVI community and friends of the BVI for their very generous donations which make this annual event possible.

The Rotary Club of Tortola meets every Thursday at noon at the Moorings Restaurant.
