ST. GEORGE, Grenada, 15th February, 2012  -- The Grenada government has reactivated the performance appraisal process for Senior Managers of the Public Service, as part of the ongoing Public Sector Reform Initiative.

The process was formerly reintroduced this morning with Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas and Cabinet Secretary Gemma Bain-Thomas signing a performance agreement, during a meeting with the Senior Managers Board (SMB).

“You are the managers of the Public Service and so you must lead by example,” the Prime Minister told members of the Board.

The agreement defines the performance expectations in terms of key results to be achieved. It is expected that along with the corporate planning process, it will help senior public officers to better plan and monitor the activities of their respective ministries.

“This process will help us to better manage the areas under our responsibility and measure our successes. It will also provide a basis for analyzing as a Board, the areas which need greater oversight,” according to Cabinet Secretary Bain-Thomas, who will also sign agreements with Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments.

Prime Minister Thomas has consistently called for a productive and professional public service which recognizes the importance of providing quality service to clients and is committed to national development.
