BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT was Valentine’s night and the place was so right; couples came out, the music was tight; the venue was dynamic and everything fell into place because of one special event.

The event was Rockaway R.E.D held on the night of Feb. 14, at Cloud 9, giving everyone another option of how they could enjoy the Love-filled night.

The organizers of Rockaway R.E.D wanted everyone to celebrate their love, especially the love they had for music.

In fact R.E.D stood for R-ewinding the musical clocks to the decade of the 80’s, E-levating your standard of entertainment and D-ancing like you used to back in the days.

Much emphasis was also placed on the fact the music at Rockaway would definitely reflect those of yesteryear with the magical fingers of Ronnie Rascal, 1990’s local all-male group Range which delivers their music in an a capella style, and the Royalties band, though modern, featured the brilliance of Mic Stokes as one of the vocalists.

One of the added attractions at the event was a photo-section where persons who attended the event were able to preserve their memories. In addition, tasty finger foods were served free of cost throughout the night.

Attendees were also given one complimentary glass of red or white wine upon entrance.

The night kicked off with poetry by Jihan Williams and Patrick Walters who both set the mood for the rest of the stellar acts to follow.

Range was up next and definitely moved the crowd as the group that features Dele Adams, Stephen Smith, Garth Archibald, Jason Davis and Charles Emmanuel, belted out some past classics.

The Royalties Band was up next and featured the vocals of Stokes, Mikeila Armstrong and Rolhensha.

Everyone was impressed with the performance of the young band especially the renditions delivered by former Kittitian Superstar Mikeilia Armstrong also known as ‘Mimi’ and ‘Mousy’.

At this time everyone was really enjoying themselves and into the groove and even before 1:00 a.m. when Ronnie Rascal began doing his magic, the organizers had already accomplished what they set out to do.

According to a spokesperson of the event, not only did they want people to remember the good times and ‘rockaway’ but they were also adamant about ushering in a new era of quality entertainment in the Federation.

They also thanked everyone who turned out and said that the organizing team was looking forward to organizing more events during the rest of the year.
