Good news from our athletes performing in Europe!

    BASSETERRE. St. Kitts - Athletes from St. Kitts and Nevis performing in France on Valentine’s Day continued to hold the nation’s flag aloft among some of the best from metropolitan countries.

     

    Competing at France’s Meeting Pas De Calais, a unique Athletic Meeting certified by the International Athletics Federation (IAAF), Antoine Adams placed second in the 200 m at a time of 21.02 secs.

     

    Adams was right there between France’s Christophe Lemaitre who clocked in at 20.92 and Turkey’s Ramil Guliyev who finished 3rd with 21.05 secs. Germany came in 4th.

     

    Tameka Williams, running at the same Meet in France on Valentine’s Day, successfully reached the finals of the 60 m after competing in the heats. She placed 7th in the finals after putting in a very creditable performance among more experienced athletes. That race was won by Laverne Jones-Ferrette of the USVI in 7.14! Here are the results:

    World champion Kim Collins continues to have problems with injury and was forced to withdraw for the meeting Pas de Calais in Lievin on Tuesday night.

    Meanwhile as our athletes continue on their march towards the 14th World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey from 9-11 March, Coach Stewart Joseph has appointed as Head Coach for this upcoming meet.

     

    Joseph, a CECS Level V coach with over two decades of coaching, has represented the SKNAAA at the Commonwealth Youth Games in India (2008) and the World Youth Championship in Czech Republic (2007) performing technical and administrative duties.

     

    He was also selected on multiple occasions as Team Manager, Technical Leader or Head Coach for top events such as the Carifta Games, Pan American Junior Championships, CAC Juniors as well as the Leeward Islands Youth and Junior Championships.
