Dark Child Records ready to take music to another level

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A new musical label, Dark Child Records, is on the rise and, according to a number of its members that visited SKNVibes yesterday, their aim is to add positivity and versatility to the local music industry.

The label currently consists of nine members - founder Javier ‘Silk’ Hutton, Damian ‘Mission’ Webbe, Xavere ‘BGz’ Wallis, Timoy ‘Ibush’ Henry, Shakier ‘Vybz’ Challenger, Jason ‘Pinocchio’ Mitchum, Nicha ‘Nicha B’ Byron, Akeem ‘Footsy’ Manners and their beat maker N Robi ‘Black Rob’ Robin.

Some of the members are not strangers to the local music scene but they had never hit the spotlight as solo artistes.

Vybz was a member of the group Sweet Voices and BGz a past member of the Best A Dem Family.

Nevertheless, they have now embarked on a solo mission to let their voices be heard.

According to the members, they want not only to make music but also to achieve something in life along their musical journey.

Hutton said they intend to be known for the positive music they intend to promote worldwide, and though music has its various genres his artistes are versatile and could at any time make changes to their respective styles.

Ibush added that it is their intention to be different and more lyrical than others in making music for the people with topics to which they could relate, while at the same time get their names and faces known in the music industry.

Hutton went on  to say that they are currently working on a riddim called ‘Settle Gal’ to which a number of the artistes have already penned and released tracks, but he is waiting on a few more artistes to complete an album and make it available to the public.

To date, BGz has released ‘Nar Leave’ while Ibush released ‘Friends With Benefits’ (FWB) and Vybz with ‘Party On The Weekend’, which will soon be followed by a music video.

Picnocchio also has a track that is yet to be released titled ‘Stop Call me Phone’.

The Dark Child label mates, since their launch in January, have made three public appearances of which they indicated the responses were great.

SKNVibes has included a copy of the 'Settle Gal' medley with those artiste who have already voiced tracks on the riddim.
