ST. GEORGE Grenada, February 17th 2012 - Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas will take his message of hope to Grenadians in Toronto this weekend, when he addresses a ceremony marking Grenada’s 38th Anniversary of Independence.

Prime Minister Thomas will call on the Grenadian Diaspora in Toronto to participate in the building of a coalition with government and the private sector in Grenada to further the country’s development agenda.

“We recognize that you are already playing a part with your remittances and investment in education and other sectors. However, we look forward to deepening this relationship so that the benefits to Grenada can be enhanced and increased,” the Prime Minister will tell his compatriots and well wishers at a gala dinner on Saturday.

He will encourage specialists and professionals in health, education, business and other sectors, to offer their service to Grenada “even if it is while vacationing at home.”

The Grenadian leader will also seek the cooperation of the group to find markets for existing Grenadian products and to help in research and development of new Grenadian products. His message to the Grenadian community will urge their assistance in “finding avenues to increase the presence and availability of Grenadian products” in Canada.

While the Prime Minister is in Toronto, Tourism Minister, Hon. Pater David will be speaking to a similar audience of Grenadians in Montreal, Canada.

Minister of Finance, Planning, Economy, Energy and Cooperatives, Hon. Nazim Burke, has been appointed Acting Prime Minister.
